Milan has 1.300.000 inhabitants and 600.000 commuters, half of those travel by train and the second half by car. Most likely they are the same people who lived in Milan until Seventies when the city was about 2.000.000 millions people, and who left center of Milan for the increasing of prices in favour of hinterland.
Considering that it is intersting to think about administration arguments about “ricostruction of Big Milan”, whom try to reduce commuting stimulating the building of new houses in the Municipality of Milan to catch people who left and now travel everyday.
But, on the contrary, we consider another assumption: do not think Milan as a denser city taking back the commuters, but to deal commuters where they decided to live. The first step is to develop a better train network (like in main european cities) by whom it is possibile to reduce car-using, to live in town where cost of living is suitable to income, to travel more quickly.
If Milan, instead of a more densely populated city, were a wider city achievable in 45 minutes?
